Out & About
Fancy a walk? If you go straight out of the front door, turn right up towards the end of the road, on your right you’ll find a way way through to a field, if you carry on across that field (in a westerly direction) you’ll come to a trail that will take you into Canford Heath, depending on the time of year you can see extremely rare wildlife and views across to Poole and beyond. Word of warning! There are lots of trails and although not a huge area, it’s very easy to get lost, we would recommend taking a charged phone to use for directions and finding your way home!
The New Forest. The New Forest is approximately 30-40 minutes away by car, a National Heritage site, this is an amazing day out for the whole family or group. Search www.thenewforest.co.uk there are so many places to visit here it’s impossible to get them all down!
Beaches! Sandbanks, Branksome, Bournemouth, Mudeford Beaches. All of the beaches here are among the very best anywhere in the world. Each of them has a different flavour, Bournemouth is large and busy, Branksome is just around the coast, sharing the same feel but less crowded, Sandbanks is beautiful and usually busy with kite surfing and other activities. Mudeford is a little further afield and is usually less busy, but far more difficult to get to in peak season, the traffic can be horrendous! Further afield you have the Purbecks, and Studland Beach (pour personal favourite!), think natural sand dunes, huge open beaches and a more relaxed feel (be aware there is a nudist bit which is perhaps a little too relaxed…).
Purbeck Area. The Isle of Purbeck is a little difficult to get to, but well worth it if you have time…. You can either try the ferry from Sanbanks (often huge queues in peak season!), or take a leisurely drive around via Wareham/Swanage which we would recommend. Once in the area you’ll be blown away by the tiny villages and hamlets, Corfe Castle (and of course Corfe itself), the coastline is more rugged than the other beach areas, but all the more beautiful for it. You can take extremely tough hikes out over the coastal path, or sit and watch the waves roll in on a bench. There are lots of pubs, shops and things to do around Lulworth as well (coast steering, kayaking etc).
Shopping Centre: Castle Point has all the regular outlets and shops for clothes, trainers etc… Castle Lane West, BH8 9UZ
Anything else you fancy or need, just Google “Near Bearwood, Bournemouth” and you should be able to find it!
